What:
Icarus Theatre is seeking submissions for its Macbeth Image and Poster Design Competition for Early Career and Emerging Artists.

About Icarus Theatre:
Icarus creates theatre that is kinetic, intellectual, and visceral: Theatre that moves. We choose to relish what others shy away from, show what others daren’t; destroy boundaries when others would create rules. We explore the beauty of the text and skill of the actor to consider harsh, brutal themes with a modern examination of Theatre of the Absurd in classic and contemporary storytelling. www.icarustheatre.co.uk

The Theme:
Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Icarus Theatre will be touring their unique production of Macbeth focused on Mental Health and effects of war on the individual across the UK, Ireland and Europe.

The following is intended to provide inspiration.

Our director describes the project as "Shakespeare for the Game of Thrones generation – Violence, gore, and strong female characters - the play is dark, jagged, supernatural. War is hell, and medieval warfare even moreso. This world is a supernatural nightmare for Macbeth. The horrors of what he has done and seen in battle lurk for him in every shadow, every corner.bird imagery resonates in a very Hitchcockian way... like you may find in Edgar Alan Poe, and in ravens."
