Our Spring Shows

Here at Icarus Theatre Collective, we are beginning our spring season with the continuation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and the new addition of Wedekind’s Spring Awakening, touring together in rep until May 2013. The shows have been cast, intensive rehearsals completed, and performances have started! Both shows are directed by Icarus Theatre Collective’s Max Lewendel, and may be coming to a theatre near you! Check out the full tour schedule at: www.icarustheatre.co.uk/shows/romeo.html and www.icarustheatre.co.uk/shows/spring.html.

 “Half-shut eyelashes, half-open mouths…”

Set in late 19th century Germany, the play follows a highly religious community with straight and gay teens exploring youth’s furtive sexual awakenings. 15-year-old Melchior is chased out of town for acts of hedonistic, lewd and despicable moral character. But Melchior is the brightest boy in school and knows sex is just a natural act that ends in the beauty of childbirth. Wendla is the 14-year-old girl-next-door and Melchior battles through purgatory where he confronts the ghosts of his past.

“Violent delights have violent ends…”

We continue a successful run of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Icarus Theatre Collective is proud to present an exciting twist on a tragic tale. Watch as two young loves fall into each others arms against all odds. Misadventure, family pride, and ancient quarrels will keep you wanting more!

Workshops featuring our education program from Romeo and Juliet are also being offered. Each workshop lasts approximately 90 minutes and is led by a professional facilitator and a cast member and includes an education pack. For further information, please email edu@icarustheatre.co.uk or call 0207 998 1562.
